"Joy and Woe are Woven Fine" by William Black

“Joy and Woe are Woven Fine” is a poem by William Black. I like this poem because it shows reality. Black here has tried to give the metaphor and meaning to the ups and downs of life.

In this poem Black describe joy and woe, both which are woven together like thread. In next line he called it clothes for soul. It shows that by experiencing joy and woe our maturity grows. This we can take as character building also. After than he also says that this is the way it should be. Everyone should experience joy and sorrow. This is the right way of life and at the end he says that who ever has get this thing right, they can enjoy or survive in this world easily.

Here poet has described the simple philosophy of life with very simple words. Every living being has gone through the experience of happiness and sadness. This is part of life, one can not escape this cycle of joy and woe. It makes life liveable and enjoyable.

Thank you.
